Trade Marketing Manager

Job Description
Our client, a leading importer and marketer of premium Mediterranean food products, is seeking a Shopper & Trade Marketing Manager to join their U.S. team. Known for their category leadership in olive oil and specialty foods, they operate at the intersection of tradition, quality, and modern culinary trends.
This hybrid role is critical to driving retail execution and trade investment strategy across national and regional accounts. Reporting to both the VP of Marketing and the VP of Sales & Trade Marketing, this individual will connect shopper insights, sales operations, and promotional planning to maximize volume growth and return on investment.
Key Responsibilities
Shopper Marketing & Insights
- Lead shopper marketing programs across in-store, digital, couponing, and retailer media platforms.
- Build and manage the national and customer-specific shopper marketing calendar.
- Analyze shopper and loyalty data (e.g., Nielsen/IRI, Numerator) to develop targeted, insight-driven activations.
- Provide strategic input on purchase behavior, path-to-purchase, and conversion opportunities.
- Collaborate with agencies to align digital and social media efforts with shopper insights.
- Track and report campaign KPIs, ensuring proof of execution and clear ROI measurement.
Trade Operations & Budget Management
- Oversee trade marketing systems and staff supporting contract compliance, data entry, and invoicing (e.g., SAP, Vistex).
- Manage the trade budget and monthly reconciliation processes in coordination with Finance.
- Forecast trade spending and support the Sales team with accurate promotional planning.
- Monitor and report on MAPS (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, Shelving) metrics and retail performance trends.
- Evaluate incremental trade/marketing spend requests and assess ROI potential.
Cross-Functional & Sales Collaboration
- Act as the bridge between Sales, Marketing, Finance, and external brokers to drive aligned execution.
- Equip field teams with tools and resources for retail excellence and distribution expansion.
- Liaise with major retail media networks (e.g., Walmart Connect, Instacart, Kroger 84.51) to ensure seamless campaign delivery.
Analytics, Reporting & Competitive Insights
- Support post-promotion analysis, trade deduction management, and program scorecards.
- Deliver performance reports and strategic recommendations based on sell-in/sell-out and competitive data.
- Champion the shopper and retailer voice across the organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in CPG trade marketing, shopper marketing, or sales operations.
- Strong analytical mindset with hands-on experience in Nielsen, IRI, and trade systems like SAP or Vistex.
- Confident communicator with the ability to present recommendations to senior leadership.
- Proactive, adaptable, and organized with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with the grocery, food, or specialty retail sectors is a strong plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 10–15% for customer meetings or trade events.
