Job Description


Our Client is a prominent North American division of a long-established European producer of gourmet meats and fine foods. Renowned for its rich heritage and commitment to artisanal quality, the company has successfully introduced its specialty products to American consumers, blending traditional European flavors with local culinary preferences. The North American branch focuses on maintaining the brand’s high standards while expanding its market presence through strategic partnerships and a dedication to authentic, high-quality offerings.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Ensure the highest level of food safety, product quality, and sanitation standards at the Client’s facility in alignment with Management objectives, regulatory requirements, and certification standards. Maintain full compliance with tracking and traceability protocols while leading sanitation programs that safeguard both product integrity and operational excellence. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

A.    QUALITY ASSURANCE 

1.   Develop and update the Health, Hygiene, and Quality Management System in compliance with applicable regulations and voluntary certification schemes.

2.   Oversee system and product certifications, acting as the company’s primary contact during inspection and audit visits.

3.  Conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and process reviews to ensure adherence to established Quality System procedures.

4.    Periodically review and update HACCP and related self-control plans, including analytical sampling.

5.  Maintain facility SQF certification, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Procedures.

6.   Inspect, audit, and validate all stages of production, from raw materials through packaging and distribution.

7. Investigate deviations, non-conformities, and consumer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive measures based on root cause analysis.

8.   Support other departments in regulatory compliance and documentation preparation. 

B.    SANITATION MANAGEMENT 

1.  Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive sanitation programs for all processing areas, equipment, and ancillary facilities, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, SQF, and GMP sanitation requirements.

2. Establish and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS), ensuring their effective execution and documentation.

3.  Lead sanitation audits and pre-operational inspections to verify hygienic conditions before production starts.

4. Monitor and validate cleaning and sanitizing processes, including chemical concentrations, water quality, and contact times.

5.   Manage pest control programs in collaboration with certified providers, ensuring preventive measures are in place and documented.

6. Train sanitation staff and production teams on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and personal hygiene practices.

7.  Ensure waste handling, disposal, and wastewater management meet environmental and regulatory standards.

8.  Coordinate with Maintenance and Production to plan sanitation activities that minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

C.   CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION 

1.    Drive continuous improvement initiatives for both quality assurance and sanitation systems.

2.  Analyze data from sanitation and quality records to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

3. Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in sanitation and quality management.
