Job brief
Looking for an experienced National Sales Manager who will be responsible for providing actions which result in continual positive national sales growth, by creating a development plan, establishing and expanding the customer base and working directly with key accounts. The candidate will help to build a business plan to maximize profitable growth, prioritize time and resources to fulfill the plan, build communication and other proactive tools with marketing to increase sales, create new business opportunities, and successfully lead projects.

This position will hold a significant role within the company, with full responsibility for the subsidiary's business in terms of distribution strategies, margins, and achieving predetermined targets in terms of value and volume, in collaboration with the CEO.

Responsibilities
  • Expand product distribution by working across multiple sales channels, with a specific focus on Food Service and Retail, both through distributors and directly using the goods available at the subsidiary.
  • Strengthen existing customer relationships and develop them further.
  • Participate in national industry trade shows and events organized by clients.
  • Organize and manage regular visits to clients to analyze the business, propose new products, plan promotions, and develop overall business.
  • Organize training sessions in the classroom or on-the-job for distributor sales teams.
  • Monitor the competition and report market conditions to the CEO on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage first-level price margins and any marketing budgets.
  • Develop marketing and trade marketing activities within the available budget.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics in collaboration with the Italian headquarters and colleagues.
  • Maintain existing accounts / customers and further develop existing accounts
  • Marketing and general promotion the brand
  • Following up on complaints and queries on behalf of clients.
  • Other duties, as assigned
Requirements/ Qualifications
  • 5+ years of sales/business development and customers development in the Food industry, specifically in selling Italian products in the USA.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of American distribution dynamics. Familiarity with key American players.
  • Interpersonal skills â€“ Ability to demonstrate patience, tact, courtesy, discretion and tolerance to others. Ability to interact with individuals in a respectful manner, and to engage others in a constructive two-way conversation. Empathy and adaptability.
  • Enthusiasm and initiative â€“ Ability to maintain an enthusiastic, proactive approach to meet job responsibilities. Demonstrate persistence and be able to overcome obstacles.
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade others â€“ Ability to persuade and influence others, and to negotiate to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Customer focus orientation â€“ Ability to make customers and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions. Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.
  • Self-motivated, passionate, and hungry to make a big impact, with passion for building relationships and customer interaction. Quick adaptability to a highly dynamic environment.
  • Problem-solving skills. Curiosity.
  • Great communication skills and proficient in Italian and English
  • Able to travel 50-60% of the time, but resident in the US East Coast
