Job Description
A reputable fixture and tool supplier dedicated to the global aerospace, defense, and space launch vehicle industries is seeking a Laser Tracker Operator.
The company offers a competitive compensation package, casual work environment, and excellent growth opportunities.
Schedule: Must be able to work 6:00 AM–2:30 PM and expanded hours during installation projects, requiring up to 12-hour days.
Location: Onsite in Sterling Heights, MI, with travel to customer sites in the USA for tooling installations.
Summary
Laser Tracker Operators are responsible for operating laser tracker equipment to meet quality standards and customer specifications. They maintain required inspection documentation, generate and maintain reports, and provide accurate evidence of results. They compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain product quality.
Duties and Responsibilities

Measure and inspect tooling and components to ensure customer specifications are met.

Work from tool drawings, numerical control data, quality procedures, and instructions.

Perform in-process and final inspection of parts and sub-assemblies during manufacturing per customer requirements.

Inspect all incoming parts and materials used on end-item products (tooling) as required by contract. Responsible for product acceptance.

Locate details on tooling sub-assemblies and assist with assembly.

Perform complete manual inspections and layout techniques.

Maintain Laser Tracker equipment used to perform job duties.

Inspect details to complete tools using hand tools, surface plate, or laser tracker to print and/or model.

Initiate non-conformance documents as required.

Provide analysis of collected data and evaluate it to guide operations.

Communicate effectively with fabricators, machinists, assemblers, engineers, and other parties as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
-
Previous laser experience and tool installation required.
-
Minimum of two years of experience in large-scale machining, tool build, or related manufacturing.

Knowledge of Verisurf software.

Indoor production and office environment, temperature-controlled unless products/equipment are outdoors.

Work Hours:

Standard schedule, with overtime as needed to meet deadlines, travel requirements, or emergent conditions.
Travel:

Up to 25% of the time.

Operating motor vehicles, forklifts, and/or other heavy equipment.
