Job Description

Our client, an Italian specialty ingredients company with pastry, gelato, and fillings applications, is seeking a Business Developer responsible for developing and executing the corporate business plan within the Northeast US. This person will be a key member of the sales team, working closely with assigned partners (distributors & key accounts) to execute business development priorities objectives. The person should prioritize participation in partner events including forward planning scheduling. They will liaise with marketing to create sales assets to be used in business development efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Achieve established quota in the assigned territory by identifying and closing business opportunities through territory management target account prospecting
  • Develop a close relationship with the existing and potential customers (e.g., digital meetings, personal visits, etc.)
  • Earn trust of key customers, becoming part of their decision-making process in order to help them in achieving their business yearly objectives
  • Execute selling pipeline process in the assigned territory and be responsible for prospecting, call for action and closing opportunities for distributor’s potential accounts and into top key accounts. 
  • Maintain daily CRM by customer
  • Conduct face to face meetings, as well as cold calls with prospects and potential customers, providing effective presentations/proposals
  • Use given tools (CRM, virtual, etc.) and resources individually for the specific market (e.g., special window projects etc.)
  • Responsible for selling Company product portfolio full product line by thoroughly assessing the customers’ needs and presenting appropriate solutions
  • Build relationships and engage effectively with technical outsource consultants (gelato makers and pastry chefs) to ensure distributors, distributor’s clients and key accounts have the necessary technical education 
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of products technology and industry trends
  • Provide management team with accurate and timely reporting of activities including weekly and monthly sales forecasts the status of the pipeline results of prospecting activities
  • Coordinate & execute local classes and presentations whenever requested by Sales Manager
  • Collaborate with Distributor Sales Consultants with a plan for assigned market/territory.
  • Participate to Distributor and key accounts sales meetings
  • Help to recruit, interview potential technical educators (pastry chefs, gelato makers, baristas) whenever requested by direct supervisor
  • Support in maintaining an appropriate level of qualified/certified technical educators within the assigned market/territory to support education calendar.
  • Support with organization and execution of distributor & key accounts local shows and events
  • Analyze sales data by territory, client, product category and sku
  • Analyze sku rotation and maintain proper level of stock through monthly forecasting by territory, clients and items
  • Manage territory and clients P&L and maintain assigned level margin % by territory, sku and client
Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of work experience in a business development function, within the Food and Beverage industry, preferably with an Ingredients company.
  • Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approach to problems
  • Ability to effectively convey information to others
Requirements:
  • Travel within the assigned territory
  • Communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with direct supervisor
  • Return phone calls and e-mails within 24 hours
  • Submit detailed Report to supervisor on a weekly basis (Prospect Report)
  • Able to conduct Virtual meetings effectively
  • Able to use CRM software
  • Person should reside in the Boston Metro Area
