3D Laser Field Service Technician About the Company

Position Overview
The 3D Laser Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial laser systems at customer sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. This is a highly independent, customer-facing role with extensive travel, overtime opportunities, and per diem.
Territory & Travel

  • Indiana and Michigan (Detroit area preferred)

  • Approximately 80% travel (including Canada, twice per month)

  • Must live within 1–2 hours of a major airport
Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues on industrial laser systems

  • Perform preventative maintenance, system calibrations, and machine upgrades

  • Install mechanical and electrical enhancements on equipment (early 2000s to current models)

  • Train customers on machine operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting

  • Collect and analyze on-site data and report findings to engineering and technical teams

  • Complete detailed service reports and expense documentation

  • Provide phone and email technical support when not traveling

  • Maintain strong customer relationships and work safely at all times
Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Robotics, Electronics, Laser Applications or 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with PLCs, CNC equipment, and industrial computers

  • Ability to use hand tools and lift up to 70 lbs

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to travel extensively and work flexible schedules

  • U.S. Citizen with valid passport (security requirements apply)

  • Hourly pay with overtime

  • $90/day per diem when traveling
